What is the Best Airport Movie?
There are heaps of aviation movies, but very few are about or set primarily in an airport. In fact, I can only think of three. So what am I missing, and which one is the best?

Friday Funny: An Airport Love Story
As a generative natural language model, ChatGPT is good at writing. And thanks to its colossal training data set (something like the whole Internet up to September 2021), it already knows a lot of stories. Moreover, it is capable of writing in a multitude of different styles.
So, for a quick “Friday funny” post, please enjoy Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet re-imagined as an airport safety love story (no tragedy in this one).
ASW #5: Some Friday Funnies
It’s Friday, it’s Friday! The theme for day 5 is “Wellbeing”. The old Oxford Dictionary defines that as “the state of being comfortable, healthy, or happy” and today, I’m going to try to help out with that last one with some funny aviation-themed videos from YouTube.
Seussian Safety Management
All three on my children have been brought into the world of reading partially through the works of Dr Seuss. I can't count the number of times I have read his books. As my kids have grown older, they have turned into the reader and read these amazing books back to me.
The Bike Lesson is one of my favourites for the very nerdy reason that towards the end of the book The Berenstains provide us with a short & succinct definition of safety. It's three simple stanzas that I think encapsulate modern safety management perfectly.
Someone is always watching...
Airports are at the nexus of high visibility and idle time. We invite people to transit through our facilities. We provide windows for them to watch the action. We make them wait (hopefully not too long).

The Simian Menace
There's more whacky animal-airport news this week. This time, its India with a rampaging group of monkeys sending aircraft on go-arounds! This story has got the works - poor planning in the placement of a garbage dump nearby, the hard work being done by airport staff to mitigate the risk as best they can and the need for a coordinated response with some success.

Unusual Wildlife Hazards Update
It appears that the reptilian conspiracy is real and it intends on shutting down the world's airports. First, it was geckos in the Australian outback and now its turtles in New York!

Spending time with our ATC cousins
i only occasionally get to spend time with the ATC community but last week offered one of those chances. My co-facilitator in Jakarta was Tim Abberton, a very experienced "airservices" ATC'er and safety guru and at least half the course were members of the Indonesian DGCA's Directorate of Air Navigation. The combined course was an excellent opportunity for the airport and air navigation worlds to work together as well as compare and contrast their approaches to similar problems.
