Opening Up: What Surprises Lurk within your Aerodrome?

Depending on the nature of the COVID-19 outbreak in your area, aerodrome operations may have ground to a halt*, barely hiccuped or maybe even increased. For those in the first category, that have struggled through intermittent and/or prolonged lockdowns, the end could be insight. But getting going again could be fraught with insidious risks.

A great deal of work has been and is being done around the world to ensure that returning to the skies is done safely and aerodrome play an important part in that process. A couple of months ago, I completed a project with the Fijian CAA to develop a process to help them reopen. That was through the very formal ICAO Implementation Pack system but if you’re in a jurisdiction that hasn’t engaged ICAO for assistance, you might be lacking in some guidance and direction.

If this is you, then I have developed a quick infographic to help you identify key areas for consideration.

The links at the bottom provide more information but since they are inside a picture, I will share them again here:

I am definitely looking forward to greater travel opportunities and the return of our industry. There are just a few more hurdles to go but let’s take the time to do it right.
